Drylaw Neighbourhood Centre
About us
Our story
How it all started
Drylaw Neighbourhood Centre opened on the 5th November 1995 when a small group of local people campaigned for a Neighbourhood Centre to be built within the local area. When the centre first opened we also had a seperate transport project that operated in partnership with the Neighbourhood Centre.
Since 1995 we have continued to offer a varied programme for Children, Young People, Older People and Families.
When the City of Edinburgh Council changed the Local Ward Boundaries we became part of the Inverleith Neighbourhood Partnership area of Edinburgh and serve a diverse neighbourhood within North Edinburgh. Currently our core funding is received from the City of Edinburgh Council in the form of a Revenue Grant; Children & Families and Health and Equalities in Social Care.
The organisation is managed by a voluntary board of trustees who are elected each year at our AGM. The management board are solely responsible for the strategic development and overview of the organisation. The management committee employ a staff team who are responsible for the day to day running of the organisation.
During 2016 the centre was successful in attracting funding to build a skatepark in Easter Drylaw Drive. This initiative was pioneered by 4 local young teenagers and with the support of the local Elected Councillors and the City of Edinburgh Council. Now these local teenagers dream has become a reality which is now benefiting children and young adults from surrounding areas.
